Dec. 1

From a Facebook Post...a little while ago...

Nov. 10

It was two weeks ago today (Oct. 27) that I had a very scary experience that we are still trying to diagnose. I was about to take my son to "school" and decided I would try to do one last thing before getting in the car. I was going to move something from the garage into the house and realized it was too heavy and I didn't have time. So, I quickly got up, turned my head, then body, then ran out of the garage to the car. When I made it to the car I realized something was wrong. It was almost as if my skull and brain didn't twist at the same time. On the way to "school" I was talking but the words were all garbled and I could tell I was not making sense. I knew something was wrong. When I got him to school the speech was getting better but I was starting to have a few spots in my vision, almost like a migraine. I stopped by our house on the way to work to get a few Excedrin migraine. When I got to work, my vision was blurry as I tried to read emails, paperwork. A short time later, I wasn't able to remember people's names that I worked with or my son. All I know was something wasn't right. So, my husband was called and to the clinic we went. They sent us to ER where they did a CT scan which came back ok, ruling out an immediate stroke. My head started to really hurt in the back and above my eyes. They diagnosed it as a severe migraine and I went home and rested the rest of the day. For the next week I still wasn't quite right. I still suffered with headaches and twinges/flickers in head. I had an MRI last week which showed "no cranium abnormalities" but did show sinusitis. So I was put on amoxicillin. I had an appointment with an opthamalogist on Monday that showed my eyes to be in good condition with good optic nerves. The dr. recommended I have an ultrasound of my carotid artery & heart so that was the appointment for today. We are in the waiting game and still trying to rule things out. Definitely scary, definitely something we would like answers for, and definitely something I do not want to happen again. Thank you for your continued prayers! We will keep you posted.

Nov. 12…The Neurologist

Today's visit to the neurologist went pretty well...despite a short night as we returned from Steve's class in Mpls at midnight, then Micah was up from 3-5am and we left at 6:30 to get to the 8am appt in Fargo. After a visit with the Dr. and him doing a few tests, I was diagnosed with migraines for which he gave me a prescription to use when I feel a migraine coming on. He also diagnosed me with a constricting vessel which is what is causing the "twinges" I've been feeling in my head since the infamous "scary tuesday." For that he put me on a prescription for the next month which will help open those vessels as well as physical therapy. Then I'll have a follow up appointment in January. So...that's the next step in the saga. We are very relieved & thankful it is nothing more serious. He isn't able to promise me it won't happen again, but he did give me plenty of things to look out for to avoid a repeat performance.

Now it's to focus on staying healthy and getting our little boy healthy. He started running a fever last night which is hanging on through today. Didn't have a chance to get him the H1N1 vaccine so praying this passes quickly and it isn't passed around our house.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers...now it's to quick catch a nap before Micah wakes up.
