February Fotos

The day of the runs...trying to give the cheeks a lil' reprieve.
Making forts & tunnels in the dining room...now you see me....
Now you don't!

After Daddy couldn't handle watching "John Deere Heaven" on video ONE MORE TIME, he broke down and brought up some tractors & barns for Micah to play with.

Our blue-eyed lil' boy battling the "gunk."
That's about all we've been up to the last half of January and most of February. We're praying we can be done with this stuff soon!!!

Inspiration Point Bible Camp

Last Saturday afternoon we headed over to Inspiration Point Bible Camp where some of the DeWitt Youth were for the High School Retreat. It was so fun to see Pam & the youth. We definitely miss them! Even though Micah wasn't feeling himself, he still had a great time hanging out with Pam.

Unfortunately, we didn't make it over to camp in time for the Volleyball tournament. We felt terrible, because the group had made fun shirts--almost like the commemorative T-shirt with a little tribute to Steve. (The "Hello, My name is Steve" name tag was actually printed on all their shirts. Hilarious!!! They had a shirt for Steve so here he is sporting it on Sunday morning.

Sunday Steve went back out to camp to hang out with the group during breakfast. He had a great time catching up with all of them. He was torn on his drive home...he knows he's in the place where God wants him but he really misses being with them.

Fun when Life isn't Fun

The last 3 weeks have been anything but fun! Micah battled the fever/head cold thing...Then Steve & I ended up with some sort of head cold. Last Monday I broke down and went to the Dr. because my ear hurt so badly. The Dr. looked at it and said...."Ooooo" then as he was going to look at the other one I told him that one didn't hurt as much. He looked at me and said, "Are you sure...becuase it looks just as bad as the first!" Sooooo, out I walked with a prescription for double ear infection. Thankfully, Micah didn't get that. Monday we took Micah back to Day Care. By Wednesday, his day care provider was calling us and asking if we wanted to pick Micah up as her son just threw up 3 times. Hmmmm....YES...be right there. After praying against the "puke-fest" on Friday morning Micah threw up one time. After that he has had the runs ever since (and I mean RUNS!). I'm praying this ends quickly and praying that tomorrow Steve and I don't wake up with any of it.

It's hard to see Micah down and out...not that he's really either...he just hasn't been himself lately. We have tried to do some things to take his mind off the gunk. We've colored:

This was when Micah was reaching out for me to hold him with the runny stuffy nose...yum.

This is us being silly with funny hats:

Ahhhhhhh we can't wait to get rid of the "bugs"!!!

Passing the Gunk

Ahhhh....isn't it nice to see a family that shares!?! Yes, Micah graciously shared his cold with us. I didn't think it was possible for your head to feel like a hot air balloon and pressure cooker at the same time, but we've attained such status. I'm pretty certain that I have a full blown ear infection along with some sort of sinus infection. There are no clinics open in Fergus Falls on Sunday...soooo...I've tapped into some of the left over Ibuprofen 600 from my tailbone incident at Christmas. Taken off the edge...but definitely not fun.

We did have a good weekend nonetheless. Friday night Steve and Micah surprised me with some flowers that apparently Micah picked out. It had a little Dalmation dog attached to it along with daisies. Steve made supper so they did well! Yesterday we were able to see some of our friends from DeWitt at Inspiration Point Bible Camp. It was fun being at camp again for a few hours. Always brings back great memories...and taps into the love that I have for Christian Camping. Unfortunately we didn't make it out in time for the Volleyball tourney. Steve went back out to camp today to spend a little more time with the group. He had a great time.

Tonight we used our giftcard to Perkins. Micah always seems to keep us on our toes at restaurants. He's not so excited about sitting for too long so then he usually begins laps around the restaurant. He cracks the older people up as he runs from us giggling. It was nice to get out...probably safer for us too because I was Lysol happy around here trying to get rid of all these germs floating around.

Tomorrow I'll add some of the pictures from Camp & home. Must get some sleep to try to get rid of the "gunk".

Almost Human

This picture was taken last week...when we were all feeling spunky. Micah likes walking around the block...again, and again, and again. Praying that day will come again soon.

Last night we all slept for at least 5 hours in a row. I almost feel human!!! It is amazing what a little sleep will do. Micah is on the mend. I think it will be the last day of tag-team staying home with him. We are praying he will be well enough to go to Day Care tomorrow. He's down to runny nose, sneezing & a cough here & there. We are so thankful!

Yesterday I gave up the fight to find something other to do than watch the John Deere Heaven video. I think by the time the day was over we had broken into the double digits. It really doesn't make the "top seller" list in my book...but it's a combo of tractors & lionel trains which scores in Micah's. Today he's getting a little more specific in the segment that we watch. The Animal Party Express. Which requires us to groove a little with the animals on the circus train. What fun.

We also attempted a little Valentine's finger painting. He much prefers the crayons to the messy fingers. I think he's more of a brush painter. Time will tell.

I hear him waking up from his nap...a rather short one!

Thanks for the prayers for a healthy boy. He's got the spunk back!

TRAUMA

Ok...so the first doctor visit was as Traumatizing for me as it was for Micah! Yes...after 5 sleepless nights, I finally take him in to get the "gunk" checked out. It's raining, slippery, we finally figure out WHERE the clinic is, then I was told Peds was on the 3rd floor. So after a guy shows me where that is...I go to check in...OH....YOU HAVEN'T registered....You need to do that ON FIRST FLOOR. So...down the steps we go...umbrella, backpack, snotty/sneezing/coughing/redfaced boy with boots & gloves. I think I could hear the ladies at the desk snickering as I walked away. Back down the steps to first floor...the lady there says..."oh, have a seat"....ah...YEAH...as Micah starts down the hallway. I had the insurance cards out for her...then she was asking for our SSNs....Hmmm...haven't memorized Micah's yet. And of course...the immunization card...which is in a super safe place at home. So safe I don't know where it is yet!

Finally we tromp back up the steps to the 3rd floor where we are shortly called into the room. Hmmmm, dinosaurs all over. Nice touch to entertain a 20 monther for a few minutes. The dr. is definitely different than our last dr. All business, checks Micah out, pulls out a bunch of gunk from his ear....Micah wasn't a big fan of THAT...so, it was all over at that point. The dr. says "lungs, ears check out fine...stay the course...it could also be from some more teeth he's cutting. If he's not better by Friday morning bring him back in and we'll recheck." Great?!! So off we go. Making sure I don't do this WRONG again, I stop by the check in/out area to see if there is anything else I need to do. I get the look as if I was from Mars and the comment, "well, no. That's it." Great, thanks...and off we go.

We get home, Micah's in tears because he didn't have a great visit, also in tears because wants to go for a longer car-ride. I'm in tears for the frustration of everything and not getting enough sleep. Not long after we're inside, Micah falls into the window sill and splits his lip. UGH... does it get any better. Now...he's taking a nap...and I'm headed in that direction.

Pictures!!!

Welcome to Fergus Falls! The morning sun...(dogs!)... Yes...it's been cold some days... this picture was taken at 35 below.

In Grandpa Powell's basement

Grandpa set up a train on the ping-pong table...Micah doesn't know yet there is one IN the ping pong table! He thought it was a good place for a snack!

With Grandpa ChooChoo!

Micah's feeding himself....what fun!

Micah's train layout in the living room--expanded!

Micah & Daddy at TwinsFest! (more like Daddy chasing Micah at TwinsFest!)

The first version of the train set!

Micah & the snow creature we created!

Yes...it's true!!! We finally have photos!! We also have a sick lil' boy so I've had some sleepless nights and a few extra hours at home. Thought I would try to get these loaded before he wakes up. Everyone tells me the first week/month at Day Care you're child will be sick. Yep... the first week. Thankfully, I hope we're closing in on the end of this...started with a fever...high/scarry... now it's on the head draining, dripping, irritable boy phase.
These photos were obviously over the course of the last month...not the last 3 days!
Must run...I hear a little boy stirring!

Wednesday

So far Micah is doing well with Day Care. He seems to enjoy playing with his new friend. Yesterday he was a little sad when daddy picked him up because he wanted to play more. Today he gave me a little wave goodbye and a smile. Soooo...we are thankful. We are working on tempering his "aggressive hugging." I'm discovering the "aggressive hug" may be the initial stage of "I'm gonna take you down." Which works well when it's with Daddy...not necessarily so when it's a kid about your age.

Steve really likes school. YES, you read that right. He's kind of like a sponge...soaking it all in. I'm glad...because we made a trip to the bookstore yesterday. Books never get any cheaper!

Must get to sleep before Micah wakes up. He's liking to wake up around 1 or 3 am. Sometimes he goes back to sleep quickly...other times it's a bit of a challenge. Keep checking back...there might actually be pictures here someday! :)

Happy February

What a Fun Weekend! Of course we didn't accomplish half of what was on the list, but we were able to be outside quite a bit this weekend. Micah loved it! He was stompin' around in his boots and snowsuit. We made a little snowman, fed the birds, stomped in any puddles of melting snow, clomped through mud along sidewalks, and walked many times around the block. He would have nothing to do with riding in the sled...so Steve and I took turns while Micah walked the whole time!

We spent many hours on the floor in the living room playing with wooden trains. In fact, Micah thought he should be up at 4 AM to play this morning!! I was very thankful that I didn't have to work today.

Tomorrow Micah starts Day Care. Now I know what people were talking about last year when I said we had Day Care at our house...and they were telling me how lucky I was. To get him out of the house is going to be quite the production. I'm trying to have everything ready to go tonight...we'll see how well I did with that tomorrow. Steve starts full-time Seminary tomorrow. To say he's excited would be a mild understatement. He's dreamed about this day for years so I'm glad to see it's all coming together for him. Tomorrow I head off to tackle Windows Vista. Last week I received a new computer at work. Very nice...but Windows Vista is different enough that I think it will take me a couple days to figure it all out.

I'm still searching for the camera cord to transfer pictures. UGH....MOVING!!!

More tomorrow... :)
